Vanderbilt Rocks

Katherine Drotos Cuthbert from the Center for Student Wellbeing along with Vanderbilt Recovery Support (VRS) hosted a Celebration of Recovery and Music.  The event took place on Vanderbilt University’s campus earlier this year in Alumni Hall and included musical performances from national acts- SHEL, Dan Luke & The Raid, and local singer/songwriter Grace Guggenheim.  Megan Moir, a Nashville therapist and person in long-term recovery, shared her insights about how “Sobriety Sucks, but Recovery Rocks.”  The event was produced in part by Jeff McClusky & Associates, a music promotion firm from Chicago.

Jeff is an avid VRS supporter, and an active parent advocate nationally in the CRC community.  The event was well attended, as 170 students and community members participated in the evening.  The number of attendees has nearly quadrupled in the last three years, which helps us with our goals of building community and reducing the stigma around addiction and mental illness.
